The Ultimate Guide to Learning how to use Your first DSLR

One issue that many photography businesses have is caused by having set increases. In other words, they always add a certain amount without figuring out how much they truly need. They should always reflect your level of expertise and quality of work. That makes setting your photography prices a bit tricky. This includes the location, the shot list, and third-party costs such as studio hires and assistants.

Set Lens to Manual Focus and Focus ManuallyYou do not want to engage your camera’s autofocus system to try to focus on the moon. Instead, fire up your camera’s live view, zoom in as tight as you can and focus manually.

You can play music, tell a joke or ask them to do silly poses. This point is important for the two options above, especially so when you’re talking to strangers. I would say that I have about a 50% success rate of getting people who agree to model to actually model. For whatever reason, they may change their mind and that’s fine. If it takes too much convincing, you’re talking to the wrong person; they won’t be comfortable in front of a camera. Or approach model agencies to see if someone needs a starter portfolio. Silly mistakes such as harsh shadows across the face will become a thing of the past.

Your best option might be to get out of town and travel to a remote location with very little light and air pollution, preferably at a higher elevation. Take Time to Post-Process – The Moon might appear very flat without any post-processing, especially when shooting in RAW format, so basic post-processing is often needed. To be able to showcase all the details of the Moon and make it look sharp, you might need to use different blending, stacking and sharpening techniques in post-processing as well. Of course, that’s just a quick way to get an estimate. You can always use excellent apps to not only calculate the exact Moon phase on a given day, but also determine its position in the sky at different times of the day in your location!

After reading about Daguerre’s invention in January 1839, Talbot published his hitherto secret method and set about improving on it. Talbot’s famous tiny paper negative of the Oriel window in Lacock Abbey, one of a number of camera photographs he made in the summer of 1835, may be the oldest camera negative in existence.

No matter where you focus, the total blur at a given point in your photograph is the combination of its Airy disk and the circle of confusion (how out-of-focus it is). For the purposes of this article, which only relates to your aperture, there are three elements that cause a photograph to blur. You can tell that an image is well-exposed if it’s balanced toward the center of the frame, with no obvious skew. Ideally, the graph is spread across the entire histogram, from edge to edge – but without edge peaks, which indicate clipping.

Working with people like them is beneficial for both of you. They will have professional photos, and you can practise photographing models. Keep in mind that the Moon photo will look nothing like the pictures you see in this article. That’s because even with a telephoto lens and high zoom ratio, you will end up with a Moon that looks quite small. If your iPhone is equipped with a dual camera, such as the iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, etc., then you can use the telephoto lens to capture descent photos of the Moon.
